Get Into the Spirit of the Season with Bethesda Holiday Activities

Get into the spirit of the holiday season with Bethesda's plethora of holiday-inspired events. From light shows to holiday craft shows and train exhibits to New Year's celebrations, you're bound to find an assortment of activities to choose from this November and December.

Beginning mid-November, visitors and locals alike can partake in Christmas on the Potomac. This annual celebration brings more than two million twinkling lights to the area as a nightly indoor snowfall, dancing fountains, and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas ICE! performances take over the Potomac at Gaylord National Resort.

Then, craft enthusiasts rejoice as DC's annual Ornament Show and Sale begins November 16. This two-month sale is the perfect place to find one-of-a-kind ornaments for friends and family-not to mention the incredible juried show that showcases 20 regional artists' handcrafted ornaments.

Plus, holiday goers will love Bethesda's Winterfest of Lights, an animated winter wonderland that includes all your favorite holiday festivities. Board the Winterfest Express and sing Christmas carols as you view lighted displays of the Twelve Days of Christmas and fairytales. Sip on hot chocolate and visit the Winterfest Village, or browse the Yukon Cornelius Gift Shop for special holiday knickknacks. There's even a photo op with Santa.

Of course, you can't forget the holiday parades, holiday wreath sales, arts and crafts markets, and New Year's celebrations, too. With so many options, it's easy to kick off the holiday season with your trip to Bethesda. Just bring your winter apparel and indulge in a little holiday cheer in the nation's capital.
