The Most Wonderful Winter Events in Maryland

Just because Christmas is over doesn’t mean the fun has to be! After all, Winter just started a week ago. Take a look at some of these wonderful winter events in Maryland happening this January and February!

Winter Wonderland Canal Walk – Join over 100 walkers from the Seneca Valley Sugarloafers Volksmarch Club on an 11K trail from Carderock Park to Olmsted Island at Great Falls. Take in local sites including three locks, a lock house, and the Great Falls Overlook of the Potomac River. (January 16, 2015)

Plungefest – It’s not just an event, it’s an experience that has become a winter tradition for thousands of Plungers! This event benefits Maryland’s children and adults with intellectual disabilities, as they enjoy the life-changing benefits of participating with the Special Olympics of Maryland. (January 30, 2016)

Oakland WinterfestCelebrate the cool of winter with ice carving demonstrations, illuminated ice sculptures, an ice bowling alley, and a slide down the mountains at the 8th Annual Oakland Winterfest. (February 13-15, 2016)

Eagle Festival – Get an up-close view of birds of prey, such as eagles, hawks and falcons at the home of one of the largest breeding populations of bald eagles in the United States – Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Plenty of hands-on nature fun for children. FREE. (March 12, 2016)
