Thanksgiving 2017 in Bethesda

As cooler weather rolls around, people begin preparing for the holiday season. Thanksgiving is on November 23 this year and we’re looking forward to celebrating with friends, family, and fantastic events in the community. Here are some of our favorites going on in and around Bethesda:

NCCF’s 3rd Annual Pie & Stuffing Party!

The National Center for Children and Families is hosting a Pie & Stuffing Party on November 15. From 6 to 7:30 PM, local organizations, families, and friends will gather at the NCCF building to make Thanksgiving meals that will be distributed to deserving families in the DC metro area. Visit the event’s page for more information, including a list of items to bring to the party.

2017 Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade

Downtown Silver Spring is home to the only Thanksgiving parade you’ll find in the DC area. From 10 AM to noon on November 18, the Saturday before Thanksgiving, you’ll find downtown teeming with over 120 decorative units that include dancing groups, marching bands, cartoon characters, and, of course, spirited holiday floats. This exciting televised parade begins at the intersection of Ellsworth and Fenton Street and ends at Silver Spring Avenue.

35th Annual Turkey Chase in Bethesda

The Turkey Chase is a tradition attended by thousands of people on Thanksgiving Day in Bethesda. Host to Montgomery County’s largest 10K race, which begins at 8:30 AM, this fundraiser also includes a 2 Mile at 9 AM, the 50 Meter Tot Trot at 9:40 AM, and the 1K Challenge Run at 9:55 AM. To participate in the 35th anniversary of the Turkey Chase, the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase and the BCC Rotary are asking for a gift of $35.
