Spring Crafts and Markets in Bethesda

It’s convenient to buy things in large retail stores, but sometimes it’s also nice to purchase local, artisan goods like clothes, pottery, and food. If you’ll be in the Bethesda or D.C. region there are some excellent upcoming markets this spring where you can purchase a lovely accessory or piece of art.

Marvin Schwab’s The Bead Warehouse

This Saturday, March 25 the American Inn is proud to be hosting Marvin Schwab’s Bead Warehouse 2017 Sale. Admission is free for everyone, and there will be an assortment of stones, beads, glass, and other findings available for purchase. Founder Marvin Schwab started collecting beads over 30 years ago in India and now has a 2,200 sqft bead warehouse in Maryland with his wife.

The event runs from 10 AM til 4:30 PM and there is plenty of parking available across the street and a block away between Highland and Maple Streets.

On April 29 and April 30, the Washington Bead Society is hosting a bazaar at the Bohrer Park Activity Center on Frederick Ave near Gaithersburg High School. Also, if you have beads you’d like to get identified, you can bring them to the festival and the group’s bead experts will evaluate them for you. The event runs Saturday from 10 AM til 5 PM and Sunday from 11 AM til 5 PM.

The Farm Women’s Market

The Farm Women’s Market was founded in 1932, making it the oldest local food market in the area that’s still running today. The Women’s Market offers crafts, artwork, breweries, food trucks, and artisan goods from regional businesses. The market is currently in Winter Hours, running on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM til 4:00 PM in downtown Bethesda at the intersection of Wisconsin & Bethesda Avenues.
