Serenade! Washington D.C. Choral Festival 2016

It’s the oldest form of music – that which requires no instrument to stir the heart and imprints the lyrics into tribal memory.  The wonders of the singsong voice have captivated our attention ever since the vocal muse Aoide first sung her way into mythology, and on June 23rd through the 27th, we invite you to experience a taste of that cultured tradition with the Serenade!  A Washington D.C. event that features professional and foreign communities of singers and choirs that is unlike anything else you’ll find this summer.

The Serenade! Washington D.C. Choral Festival is a weekend-long celebration of the chorus from around the globe.  It brings together singers and choruses from Latvia, Japan, the Netherlands, and Italy, South Korea, and the United States.  Don’t miss the only summer festival of its kind.  “In a town known for its choruses,” Anne Midgette from the Washington Post said, “Serenade injects a variety of cultural flavors and traditions into the mix.”

Spend Friday evening listening to the Tuscon Girls Chorus, Ensemble Planeta, and Ensemble Musicaficta at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or catch the delight of Koris Logos and Kobra Ensemble at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation.    Then on Saturday, live the afternoon by listening to Koris Logos and Musicficta at the Castleton Festival-threater House.  Waltz on over to the Church of the Epiphany that evening to treat your ears to Ensemble Planeta, Tucson Girls Chorus, Kobra Ensemble, FEBC Busan, and the Korea Children’s Choir.  Stay late in to the night to hear the mystical tones in a special Midnight Serenade by Koris Logos and Musicaficta.  Finally, hear the best of the Serenade! in a Massed Choir Finale at the Music Center at Strathmore that simply can’t be beat.

Best of all? Most of the concerts are free.  You can reserve your free tickets at www.ClassicalMovements.com/dc or call (703) 683-6040.  Treat your ears to something other than the typical weekend’s worth of noise, treat them to a Serenade!  Don’t forget to book your Washington D.C. hotel accommodations to complete your weekend experience.  The American Inn of Bethesda offers a welcoming atmosphere, warm hospitality and the perfect Bethesda location just 4 miles from D.C.  Click here to book the D.C.
