Pope Francis to Visit Washington D.C.

The Pope is coming! The Pope is coming!

As Pope Francis travels to Philadelphia for the World Meetings of Families on September 27, he will first make a pit-stop in the nation’s Capital on September 23, 2015. This will be the third time in American history that a reigning pope will visit with the President in the White House, the last time being in 2008 when Pope Benedict XVI visited George W. Bush.

The pope will make a few appearances, host a midday prayer and a mass during his time in Washington D.C. You can view the full schedule below:

September 22
4:00 pm – Arrival in Washington, D.C.
September 23
9:15 am – White House Welcoming Ceremony
9:20 am – Address to Joint Meeting of Congress
11:01 am – Appearance at West Front of The Capitol
11:15 am – Visit to St. Patrick’s Church and Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington
11:30 am – Midday Prayer With U.S. Bishops at St. Mathew’s Cathedral
4:15 pm – Junipero Serra Canonization Mass at Shrine of the Immaculate Conception
September 24
4:00 pm – Departure For and Arrival in New York City
