Labor Day 2017 in Bethesda

The bad news? Summer is coming to an end. The good news? It’s going out with a bang: Labor Day, a fun-filled long weekend with lots of great festivals, concerts and other events. If you’re a MoCo local or you’ll be in the D.C. area this upcoming Labor Day, here are a few of our favorite events:

Labor Day Weekend Party at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club

Get your groove on for Labor Day Weekend at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club with a performance by the legendary funk/soul group Ohio Players. For decades, the ensemble has been putting out smash hits like “Fire”, “Skin Tight”, and “Funky Worm”. In 2013, they were a part of the inaugural class of inductees to the R&B Music Hall of Fame, a group that also included musical titans like Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Sam Cooke, and Otis Redding.

The shows take place on Sunday, September 3 at 7 PM and 10 PM. Check out the event page for more information or to purchase tickets.

47th Annual Labor Day Art Show at Glen Echo Park

If art is your thing, carve out some time during Labor Day Weekend to stop by Glen Echo Park. Between Saturday, September 2 and Monday, September 4 in the Spanish Ballroom, enjoy exhibits from over 200 artists all around the Mid-Atlantic, including sculptures, paintings, drawings, jewelry, ceramics, photography, and more. The opening reception on Friday, September 1 between 7:30 PM and 9 will offer light refreshments; members of the Glen Echo Partnership for Arts and Culture will get an early preview beginning at 6. Admission to the Labor Day Art Show at Glen Echo Park is free, but donations are accepted.

2017 Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade

For the 79th year, Olde Towne Gaithersburg will host a parade of fire trucks, dance groups, clowns, marching bands, equestrian units, and other community organizations coming together to celebrate Labor Day.
