Maryland Renaissance Festival
Hear ye, hear ye! The Maryland Renaissance Festival returns this autumn with high-flying colors and plenty of excitement for children of all ages, history buffs and anyone who loves a good joust. Set in a recreated 16th century English village, this weekend extravaganza offers an entire Medieval world to get lost in. Tour the village and watch the townspeople as they dress, work, act and live just as people did several hundred years ago. You’ll also find plenty of options for food and beverages, arts and crafts and live entertainment on eight stages.
But this isn’t your standard “live entertainment.” At the Maryland Renaissance Festival, you’ll find fire eating, juggling, magic shows and jousting competitions by knights in full body armor. There will also be music and choral groups, along with a big area just for kids with free pony rides, archery, a maze and numerous games to play.
Wear your best Renaissance outfit or just enjoy the parade of people, as both workers and guests at the festival will be dressed up. You can also shop for unique gifts and souvenirs at over 130 vendor booths, selling everything from leatherwork and blown glass to wood-butchery, jewelry and period costumes.
The Maryland Renaissance Fair is held every weekend from August 24 through October 20. Hours are 10AM to 7PM, and ticket prices range from $8-17, depending on your age and when you visit. Children 6 and under are always free. The Maryland Renaissance Festival is located at the intersection of Route 450 and Crownsville Road in Crownsville, Maryland.
