D.C. Triathlon 2013


Swim, bike and run your way to glory at the National Triathlon, one of the most exciting sporting events to take place in D.C. With a scenic course that passes by many of the city’s top monuments and landmarks, this incredible race is the largest triathlon in the country. Along with a 1.5k swim, 40k bike ride and 10k run, this fun event also features a free two-day fitness expo and finish line festival with live entertainment.

One of the most popular sporting events in the city, the D.C. Triathlon takes place this year on Sunday, September 8 beginning at 7AM. If you’re a race fan who just wants to watch this thrilling event, station yourself along Ohio Drive in the transition area, just west of the Tidal Basin. Here’s where the race segments take place:

Swim: Potomac River under the Memorial Bridge, past Arlington National Cemetery

Bike: Independence Avenue heading east past the Potomac River, White House, Washington Monument and Kennedy Center

Run: Loop past the Tidal Basin, Jefferson Memorial and U.S. Mint, with finish line at transition area along Ohio Drive
