October means Halloween and the onset of the fall season, but it’s also a time when people band together to fight one of our greatest threats: breast cancer. For those in and around Bethesda, there are some excellent events for those currently fighting and those who want to show support and contribute to research for a cure.
Corks for a Cause in Olney
On Sunday, October 16 from 6 PM til 9 PM, fans of great wine and food should stop by the Olney Winery for a fun event supporting the For 3 Sisters charitable organization. Guests can enjoy samples of five different wines, hors d’oeuvres, raffles and prizes, plus live music from Sandra Dean of The Sandra Dean Band.
A Toast to Hope
The Hope Connections for Cancer Support is an organization that provides resources, comfort and optimism for those fighting cancer. On October 19 from 6:00 PM til 8:00 PM, the organization is hosting a wine, cheese and chocolate tasting at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery in D.C. Tickets can be purchased on the event website.
Gentle Yoga at Shady Grove Adventist Aquilino Cancer Center
For anyone who has a current or previous cancer diagnosis, Gentle Yoga classes provide an opportunity to stretch, relax, and improve your spiritual, physical and psychological well-being. Classes meet every Monday from 10:00 AM til 11:00 AM at the Aquilino Cancer Center.
